Summary: So much to like, especially at this price
Comment: It's not on par with golf or extreme mountain climbing, but housecleaning has become something of a hobbyist sport for me. Because there are only about three hours to spend on it each week, I am picky, picky, picky about the tools and products in my cleaning cupboard. And the cupboard isn't big, so each piece has to earn its space.

The Enviro Steamer is one of the most effective and, frankly, fun tools I use each week. At first, though, it was horrible to see how much gunk the thing picked up from our supposedly clean kitchen floor. It's not great for scuff marks from the Crocs I should have taken off at the door, but those aren't my biggest problem. Rather, the issue is dirt practically ground in by the last (and maybe final!) housekeeper's cleaning products. It's going to take a while and I'm not sure this vinyl floor can be saved, but the kitchen looks and smells cleaner since I've been using the steamer and nothing else on the floor.

This might be true only for cleaning enthusiasts, but I think it's a real charge to run the thing around. First, the area it has passed over or rested on briefly is immediately, visibly cleaner. Second, the machine itself is light enough that it is pretty easy to maneuver. Third -- and I think this is killer -- it is QUIET. Sorry to shout that out, but this might be more quiet than the little slap and squish of using a conventional mop. Except for an occasional soft hissing that lets me indulge a fantasy of conducting a little locomotive, it is inaudible.

And then there's the matter of the effort and expense one doesn't have to make in obtaining the cleaning solution, which happens to be water. Yup, plain old straight-from-the-kitchen-faucet water. Not filtered, not doctored up with expensive tinctures or other smelly additives: plain water.

At its price point, Eureka has probably taken the design as far as it can go. But I, for one, would be happy to pay more for a retractable cord and a sturdier pan for the steamer to rest on as it's heating up and cooling down. It would also be nice to have the steamer engineered in a way that one would not risk getting burned when refilling it. And a place to store the measuring cup and funnel (maybe a funnel could even be integral to the design) would be welcome. Mine are probably about to disappear, victims of my absent-mindedness. Finally, it would be nice to have a construction that were less floppy. It really is unwieldy.

Still, there is a limit to what a company can be expecting to engineer and manufacture at this price. Many of the things I suggest would certainly have an impact on production costs. For many of us, this method of cleaning is arcane enough that we wouldn't chance even $100 on a machine. Now, though, there might be enough committed users to pay more.

In the meantime, take it for what it is: an effective, relatively user friendly cleaning tool that runs only on water and is quieter than any other appliance in my house, except for the stove. I would not want to be without my Enviro Steamer.

Summary: Does It Work? Yes it does!
Comment: I thought of doing a video on this little item. Upon delivery it was about the second time in my life I wanted to mop my floors. First was abot 28yrs ago when we built this house. :o) Floor laminate is OLD - we have seriously stripped all the protective coating off these floors years ago but the sucker still hasn't shredded so we keep em cause when they clean up they clean up great. :o) Quality flooring really pays off. Anyway saying that the mop heated up nicely and did a wonderful job on getting these floors cleaner than they have been ever. No polished look but clean. Now using the product did make my laminate floor bubble as I used it but I am positive that its due to old old old laminate and not many layers left. Air bubbles appeared as but not on the direct spot I was cleaning usually. Anyway the bubble areas disappeared after I was thru mopping and as for my new mop- I love that mop. I think its definately even fun for the men. I would recommend the product and can't wait to take it with me to friends houses to show them something that will make their lives easier as well. 5 thumbs up if I had 5 thumbs.. its a winner here at my home and I hate moping.... easy to assemble as well. Buy one - heck buy a couple and give as gifts...

Summary: Much Better Than Expected!
Comment: OK, I'm coming from a Hoover Floormate which I LOVED-LOVED-LOVED, however, it broke after a few years. I bought the new & improved model with all the bells & whistles-WOW I wanted to cry! It was HORRIBLE!!! I loved the fact that it basically dry vac & wet vac at the same time. I then decided on the new Shark steamer-the large one. I hated it! It was hard to push, really wobbly handle, very hard to control. Then I got the Eureka Enviro Steamer. I was SO happy. It was actually easier to push (tile) that the heavier Floormate. I really wanted to hear & see all the steam come out, you don't really hear or see it. So I didn't think it was really that powerful. It pretty much glided across the floor, surprisingly picking up alot dirt. There were some areas where I had to go over a couple of times, but nothing near what I had to do with the Floormate. Anyway, I'm SUPER satisfied with this and I'm throwing out the box...that means I'm keeping it ;)

Try it, you'll love it!

Summary: Additional Information
Comment: I was excited about this product. Read all the reviews and thought it would be prefect for my mother to use on her large kitchen floor. So I ordered and had it sent to her. After she received it and opened it and read the instructions, she found a warning that it couldn't be used on self adhesive square tile floors. I will use this in my home instead and am excited to try it. I just wanted other people with self adhesive tile floors to know about this in advance.

Summary: finally a clean floor!!!
Comment: I have a very messy laminate floor kitchen. I cook 3 meals a day for 3 guys and the floor is always a wreck. I am very chemical sensitive. I've tried the Method Imop system with their floor cleaner, which worked well with a lot of elbow grease for the first few months, but all summer my floor has been icky sticky. I got down and scrubbed it with vinegar finally, and my husband hated me! (He hates the smell of vinegar) So another few months of Imopping, and I am back to my sticky floor.
So I ordered this, super-saver free shipping. It arrived only 5 days after I placed the order. I vacuumed the floor (with the wonderful Hoover Portapower!) and set to work. The first batch of water I put in just flooded out and soaked the pad. So I tried again with a dry pad, and MAGIC! It cleaned a kitchen floor that hasn't been mopped in 7 days. Powered through all sorts of weird gummy stuff that I normally would have to scrape off with a plastic knife and then vacuum up. And I did it much more quickly than I ever could do with my regular microfiber mop.
And the floor was virtually dry when I was done, even in the bad humidity we are having today.
I love this thing! I am going to try to find a mountain of pads to buy, so I can use it every day, and throw them in with my kitchen wash each week. Can't wait to try it out in the family room to tackle the winter salt on the laminate floor that the guys bring in. I HATE housework, but this made it so easy!
