Summary: My 5yo model is fine! Comment: I've had mine for 5+ years -- bought it cheap (well under $100) long ago at Target. Since then have had to replace only 1 belt (a month ago) despite weekly use on thick carpets with 4 indoor cats. I wish my car were half as reliable!

Summary: Short time....but great so far Comment: I've only had this vacuum for about 2 weeks now. So I can't comment on longevity and durability. But for ease of use, this vacuum is the best. With the self-propelled on it easily glides across the carpet with no effort at all. It is, as others have stated, a bit heavy...I'm guessing mainly because of the extra self-propelled motor. So if you're going to be lugging this up and down steps it may get old. But I assure you once you get it up the steps it's worth the extra weight because of how easy it is to use.

Summary: Too heavy Comment: I bought this machine because of the great review on Consumer Reports, let me tell you they were really wrong this time. The machine is so heavy that the people who clean my house decided to bring their own machine. I don't use it much as its a pain to lug around and the suction is not that great. I have had to replace the belts several times in the first few months all original belts. Stay away. I wish I knew a better machine to recommend but I am still looking myself.

Summary: Too heavy, on-off switch inoperative Comment: I also bought this because of a Consumer Reports review. It is TOO HEAVY so the self-propelled feature is critical. It eats belts or throws them quite regularly. Most irritating, the power switch turns the vacuum on but won't turn it off and there is no adjustment to fix the problem. This is a perfect example of what's wrong with American Manufacturing. Poor design and cheap materials at a high price. Oh, did I mention the unit was manufactured in Mexico.
